Nicholas Hill
Nicholas has 40 years’ experience of the electronics industry both in the UK and overseas. His emphasis has been on management of business growth, both technical development and team building. Having started with Marconi Radar Systems in 1982, his career focused on new product development, with roles spanning a range of sectors including scientific instruments, SCADA systems, CNI, defence, automotive and medical devices. As Technical Director of Hertford Medical he led the successful expansion of the business from monitoring services to medical devices. Joining Cambridge technology consultancy Plextek in 2007, he spent three years in Malaysia working with the CEO of a Tier 1 automotive supplier to improve the effectiveness of their R&D group. From 2012 he led the development of Plextek’s defence business, which became the company’s largest market. Appointed CEO in 2016, he refocussed the business after its demerger from several spin out companies. This led to staff growth of 50%, revenue growth past £10M and the largest annual profit in the company’s 30-year history.
